Top 8 Uses for Clove Essential Oil

Top Eight Uses for Clove Essential Oil - doTERRA Clove Essential Oil

Clove oil is one of the most versatile essential oils in my collection. It’s been extensively researched as an effective alternative or homeopathic option and I consider it a major player in my holistic wellness cabinet. (My version of a medicine cabinet because our focus is always on prevention and wellness.)

In addition to having multiple health benefits, clove oil has a spicy, earthy, warming and uplifting aroma making it a favorite choice for my diffuser - especially during the cold fall and winter months. It’s a personal favorite to diffuse in the fall to lift my mood, cleanse the air and create a warm, inviting environment at home.

But back to that versatility I mentioned. Below are my top 8 uses for clove essential oil and tips for incorporating it into your health and wellness routine.

1. Reduces acne

  • Mix 3 drops of clove essential oil with 2 tsps of raw honey and wash your face with it several times a week.

2. Kills parasites

  • Diffuse 2 drops of clove essential oil to help cleanse the air in your home, especially during cold and flu season.

  • Short term: Take 1-2 drops of clove essential oil in a veggie capsule. Clove is a strong oil so use it internally for no longer than 10 days.

  • Mix 1 drop with coconut oil and massage on neck and chest if exposed to people who are sick or if feeling sick/rundown yourself.

3. Improves blood circulation

  • Take 2 drops in a veggie capsule once a week to support healthy circulation and heart health.

  • Using topically for immune support on chest and neck or orally for gum health will also provide the added benefits of healthy circulation and support a healthy heart.

4. Reduces gum disease

  • Add 1 drop to 4 oz of water and swish and spit daily for a natural mouthwash that helps reduce gum disease while also reducing dental erosion and even supporting remineralization of the teeth.

  • Add 1 drop to toothpaste before brushing. If you feel any heat on the lips (clove is a hot oil) you can apply chapstick or coconut oil to the lips before brushing.

5. Boosts energy

  • Diffuse 1 drops of clove with 3 drops of wild orange and 1 drops of cinnamon for a spiced orange aroma that will fill your home and energize your mood.

6. Natural anti-inflammatory

  • Clove is the #1 antioxidant known to man. Any of the suggested topical or internal uses will help support healthy inflammation levels in the body.

7. Kills mold and fungus

  • Add 2-3 drops of clove essential oil to your homemade cleaning products

  • Place 1-2 drops of clove on a washcloth and throw it in the washing machine with moldy or stinky clothes

  • Place 4 drops in the back of the toilet for a fresher flush

  • Add to baking soda and lemon juice to scrub mold and fungus on surfaces. (Test in a small area first)

8. Supports a Healthy Gut

  • Take 3 drops in a veggie capsule once a week to help keep yeast growth under control in the gut.

  • Or for yeast overgrowth, take 2 drops in a veggie capsule every day for 10 days. Take 14 days off and repeat. Take a high quality probiotic like PB+ assist during this time and eat lots of probiotic rich, gut friendly foods like sauerkraut, kombucha, pickles and raw fruits and vegetables.

I love my essential oils. They've empowered me to take care of myself and my kids naturally for the last 5 years and have enhanced our health so much! I'm looking forward to sharing more of my favorites with you all.
